Getting thru

I tell Lindsay things over and over again.  I always wonder if she really hears what I say.  She will look at me, nod in response and even says "ok," "got it" or "understand."  I realized today that she does hear me, but I don't think she understands!

Lindsay is not allowed to touch the DVD's or go into the cabinet with out assistance.  She has been doing much better with this rule.  Justin was about ready to chop off her hands, so its a good thing she figured it out quick!  She would go into the cabinet and bring me a DVD and say, "Lindsay no, no, no touch."  Well, I'm glad you know that... now, why is the DVD in your hands!!

Lindsay loves her little sister, Courtney.  Anytime Courtney makes a peep, any little noise, Lindsay is on it!  I had to get super ears because a few times Lindsay has carried Courtney to me.  Its more than nerve wracking to have your two year old get your newborn out of the swing and carry her across a tile floor.  My imagination has run rampant a few time, luckily my feet move faster!  Lindsay tells me as she is handing the baby over, "Courtney crying.  No, no, no touch!"  I was trying to figure out if she was scolding herself after the fact or making sure I knew that she did listen.  Lindsay is way to smart for her own good... or way to smart for me!

Lindsay's new favorite thing is to go outback.  I'm ok with her going in the backyard, since its small and she can't get into too much trouble.  Once again, I was ahead of myself in my thinking.  She can always find trouble!  While she was in the backyard she kept taking her diaper off.  I kept putting it back on.  I don't understand why she was taking it off, but since she wouldn't keep it on very long I stopped fighting.  I found it amusing that she would lay on the lounge chair after she removed her diaper, like she was laying out.  She has seen Justin layout recently, but let me assure his bottom (and other parts) are always covered. After her tanning session was over Lindsay found a little shovel in the herb pot and decided to toss dirt all over the cement.  She got spoken to and told that her dad would be really mad if he saw what she did.  We cleaned it up and I went back inside.  I decided I better watch her closer so there weren't anymore issues, since I was already tired.  Courtney must have already figured out the distraction strategy because no sooner was I feeding the baby, then Lindsay was sprinkling dirt on the cement again!  When I opened the door I didn't have a chance to say anything because Lindsay was already telling me, "Daddy mad!"

So Lindsay does listen or at least remember what I say so she can repeat it back to me.  She seems to understand what I'm saying, but it doesn't seem to sink in.  I'm hoping it does soon.  I don't have the patience to do this with two girls!  I'm feeling ganged up on already.
