This was a big night for Lindsay this year. She went trick-or-treating last year, but she was way to young to understand what was going on. She only knew that there was candy and she wanted to eat it! I was hoping this year would go better, especially since she didn't have Eric around to show her the ropes.
The biggest thing I learned from last year was to bring the stroller! I thought my arms were going to fall off and I don't have the energy to carry her and myself. I think she appreciated it to because she would hop out and come back to get help back in. What a huge relief!
Lindsay was a black cat, which turned into a scaredy cat as soon as we reached the first house. We have been practicing her meowing and hissing, with hand gestures, for a couple of weeks. She only performed to one lady! I was a little disappointed, but I kind of expected it.
We got lots of good feed back from the neighbors. One even called to her daughter as soon as she opened the door, "They did come by! Come and look how cute she is!" I was completely confused since this lady lives on a different street and 7 houses from ours. I don't know her and she seemed to know who we were! I'm sure she saw my confused look because she tried to comfort me by saying that she likes to watch Lindsay, but she isn't a stalker! She saw us taking pictures last night while she was in costume and that her daughter had the same color hair when she was little.
A few of our smart neighbors all got together on one driveway and had a grand time handing out candy. One offered to be Lindsay's grandma! I think I need to go trick-or-treating a couple of times a year! Or I guess we could just walk around and meet people, but its not as fun without the sugar incentive.
Our last stop of the evening was at a house with a mummy by the front door. Lindsay and I got a picture last year while she was sleeping, so I thought it would be fun to get another one this year. The best part was that the people were home and the mummy was on! It had a sensor in its belly button region and would make all kinds of spooky noises. Lindsay found this very entertaining and didn't want to leave. That was a little embarrassing, but oh well... I'm sure I'll embarrass her plenty in the future.
All in all it was a great Halloween! Can't wait until next year! More candy please :) And a special thank you to all the wonderful neighbors who give out candy to moms, its the only thing that kept me going!
