Circus Peanuts

I tend to rotate through my sweet treats.  Right now I'm totally fixated on circus peanuts!  They are a horrid candy that I love dearly.  They are on sale right now at Safeway.  I've made several trips to get some since they have been out of stock recently, they must be a very popular item or other people are stocking up on them right now too.

While I was checking out the gentleman told me that circus peanuts remind him of his grandma.  I found that funny because they remind me of my grandma too!  My Grandma Fran would always have candy and one of her favorites was circus peanuts.  Actually I think all candy was her favorite, she wasn't too picky I've been told.  This is one candy I associate with her, another is Peeps that are sold during Easter time.  She did tend to have Mother's cookies as well, I think thats why I love the taffy flavor so much.  Grandma would always have something good to eat.  She would get after us if we ate to much of something or finished what she had, she claimed it was for my grandpa.

My grandma had some food habits that I'm not going to follow also.  One being gravy on bread.  This was her favorite dessert after Thanksgiving dinner.  I think she looked forward to that more than the meal!  She would always have one and sometimes she would squeeze in a second.  I'm not a gravy fan, so this one will not be enjoyed by me.

I'm trying to figure out if I really like the candy or the memories associated with the candy.  Either way I'm going to enjoy them and remember the good times with my grandma.
