This was the first road trip I have taken with Courtney. I was very anxious about this trip because I have traveled with Lindsay alone and got really good at that. Now I have two to deal with! Lindsay will sleep for a good amount of time and not be a bother, Courtney could be a different story. And if Courtney is awake crying, she could wake up Lindsay! I'm getting anxious about the trip home already!!
I decided this trip to start getting ready several days early. It seemed to work! I had to pack myself first, then Lindsay and Courtney last. She has the least amount of clothes and goes through them the quickest, so I had to pack her right before we left... after I did her laundry. I also had to figure out approximately how many diapers each girl would use and wipes. Then it was onto snacks.
The last thing to do, which is terrible since it is the biggest job of all, is making sure the house is clean. I knew I would be bringing Justin home with me, so I wouldn't have a chance to do any last minute cleaning. I had to make sure I didn't leave any messes or trash. Coming home to flies an maggots isn't fun! Last, I had to put on clean sheets. If I only had self cleaning kids!
I stopped by Wal-mart for a few provisions prior to my drive. It was one of the quickest trips I ever made thru that store! I even saw my delivery nurse. I, of course, was not looking so cute and she still recognized me. She was so sweet and told me how beautiful my babies were.
First thing, we had to get gas. I don't like stopping just anywhere and I wanted to get on the road a bit so I didn't have to stop twice. For some reason my plan didn't work. I past the station I wanted to stop at and then had to stop elsewhere. The place I stopped was expensive so I got a few gallons and moved on. Lindsay and Courtney were both fussy, so it worked out that I made two stops.
After the second stop for gas, bathroom and milking, we were on our way! I was so proud of Courtney, she slept for almost five hours! My boobs weren't as thrilled, more sore, but thats life. We made it to my moms house safe. I survived!
