Karate Party

Eric was invited to his friend Ronnie's birthday party. It was a karate party that was held at the karate gym. We took Eric C. and his sister with us, which was good because both Eric's decided to be shy once we got to the gym. Eric didn't want to take off his shoes or participate. I knew that he would warm up and join in on the fun, it was going to take a few minutes. Lindsay and I chatted with some of the other parents and Eric finally joined all the other kids.

I was curious as to how the master was going be able to keep the attention of some many kids at once. He did a great job! He started off by telling them the rules of the gym, starting with respect and calling his sir. Most of the kids found this fun and really got into the whole idea. The master showed them some kicks, a few stretches and then a few games. One game was like soccer with paddles and the other game was with Nerf guns... boys vs girls! I think Eric really enjoyed this. He got to put on a vest and glasses before he was given his gun.

After the good workout was pizza time! I was excited about this, I didn't get breakfast before we left and had been munching on Swedish fish out of my purse. Eating has become quite the task with Lindsay nearby. She wants to get her hands on everything! I've gotten pretty good about keeping stuff out of her reach, but she gets better everyday. She was successful at getting the plate and some red sauce on her hands, she didn't get the chance to taste it though. Eric's favorite was the cake. He usually just eats the frosting and throws the cake away, which he started to do, but realized he could get a second piece if he ate his whole first piece. His second piece was quickly stripped of frosting and thrown away. That's my kind of kid!

The big event of the day was the pinata! I don't think I am brave enough to have one at a party. Handing a kid a bat is asking for trouble. Expecting all the other kids to wait for the bat to stop flying before they run in for candy is almost a miracle. Luckily there were no injuries. Eric showed his strength by giving Hannah Montana a good beating. Hannah was really tough and held up through alot of good hits before she broke.

Lindsay did well through most of the party. She did not like visiting with others for to long, even though she is usually really social and enjoys new people. She is still teething and having some issues sleeping, playing, pretty much anything... what am I to do?

On an Olympic note: I never knew there was synchronized diving!?! Pretty neat to watch though. The lady gymnasts looked fabulous in their red uniforms. I would be nervous to wear the shiny red material, it would show all my little imperfections. They are very brave! I guess I would be too with a flat stomach and perky butt.
